I've been asked several times why the increase in dues - so.........

The range's sole income comes from membership dues and the events that are put on by the divisions. The shooting events have seen a significant drop in shooters over the last couple of years for what ever reason, cost of ammo etc., etc.

The cost of utilities are always going up. Our trash service alone has gone up well over 50% in the last two years as well as the porta-potties.

I shouldn't even have to mention the huge cost increase of insurance!

And then there is the constant upkeep of the range. When we cant get volunteer's to help with something we have to hire it done. Every year we spend more and more on the dirt work to maintain the road, the berms etc.

I personally feel that the current cost is a bargain for everything the range has to offer. I think if you did some research into the cost of other ranges and what they have to offer you might be surprised.

Please note that the shooting range will be under a mandatory closure this year. This closure is scheduled from May 15, 2017 thru June 15, 2017 due to pipeline construction on the range property.  There will be NO ACCESS during this time so please plan accordingly.  No activities, events, or trainings will be permitted.  In the unforeseen event that the dates need to be modified, we will post a notice on website, as well as at the entrance of the range.

Effective January 1, 2018, the Club’s membership dues will be increased to $150 per year.  This increase was determined necessary during a recent Board of Directors budget session.  The cost of liability insurance, as well as ongoing range maintenance and various improvements have significantly increased over the past several years.  In comparison to other private shooting ranges, the new membership rate remains on the low-end of the spectrum.  We do understand there may be members who will not be able to justify the increase within their budget, so we hope to have created a solution to help offset the increase.  We will be promoting a “Membership Drive” where any current 2017 member who successfully recruits a new member will receive a $50 credit on their 2018 membership dues, up to a maximum of $150 credit.  While we are still finalizing the criteria details, we have identified that the “new member” must not have been a past member and will also need to be a current NRA member.  We will release more details in the coming months.  If you have elected to pay the 3-year $300 membership bundle, you will not be affected by the increase until 2020.

Should you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions, please feel free to contact the Rifle Sportsmen’s Club via email at info@riflegunclub.com or by phone at (970) 625-1050. Members are always welcome to attend any of our Membership Meetings which are held on the second Tuesday of even-numbered months, plus November, at the Garfield Sheriff’s Annex, 106 County Rd. 333-A, Rifle, at 7 p.m.  A schedule of the meetings, as well as all events and division matches can always be viewed at www.riflegunclub.com/calendar.

We appreciate your continued support and hope to exceed your expectations in the years to come.

Please remember to obey ALL range safety rules.  The rules are posted in various locations at the range and are available on this website.

As a reminder, you MUST call a cease fire whenever going beyond the shooting line in any bay that is also being used by others.  For example, if you are in the end pistol bay and someone else is two slots down, you both must call cease fires in order to change or set-up targets, etc.

If you are the only one shooting in the pistol bay and somebody is shooting down at the very end of the rifle bay, then you may safely go up to 25 yards without advising the shooter in the rifle bay.  Anything beyond the 25 yard mark will require a cease fire with the shooter in the rifle bay, or anywhere else.
